First Aid at Work

The First Aid at Work training course fully conforms with HSE guidance, provides a comprehensive set of practical skills for first aiders in most workplaces to call upon, giving both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.

This course is designed for people who want to receive our most thorough first aid training, it offers the compete syllabus and will assist the individual and their business in the event of an emergency.

Covering the following topics;

  • Adult resuscitation (CPR) including rescue breathes

  • Allergic reaction

  • Asthma

  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries

  • Burns and scalds

  • Chest pains

  • Choking adult

  • Communication and casualty care

  • Eye injuries

  • Fainting

  • Head injuries

  • Defibrillator prompts and how to respond (theory-based)

  • Defibrillator pad placement 

  • Low blood sugar

  • Managing an emergency

  • Minor and severe bleeding

  • Poisons and what to do if someone has been poisoned

  • Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)

  • Seizures

  • Shock

  • Spinal injuries

  • Stroke

  • Unresponsive adult

Learning Styles

The SCUBA Group endeavours to support everyone's aspiration to be a qualified First aider, we've made it as easy to learn as we think we can; 

Classroom Learning

Based in our classroom, the course is delivered completely in person.

This is the quickest and most efficient way of achieving the certification. 

Non-consecutive Classroom

Based in our classroom, spreading the 3 day requirements across a three week period the course is delivered completely in person.

This is the easiest way of accommodating busy workplaces.

Hybrid Learning 

As per our diving, this part of the course is self-directed and is expected to take a day to complete. You complete the modules at your own pace at your convenience.

Once completed you'll be in the classroom for two days led through the remainder of the course by one of our instructors. 

Where does the training take place? 

All training is carried out in the classroom at our shop in Oswaldtwistle, we have in the past agreed to alternative locations at the client / customer's request.

How long does it take? 

3 days

3 days in a 3 week period

Some self study then 2 consecutive classroom days. 

How much does it cost? 

Testing 

Testing is undertaken by the trainer throughout the course and by written assessments.

Where distant / e-learning methods have been employed then knowledge checks will be utilised. 

Certification

Upon conclusion of this course, successful candidates will recieve an approved certificate valid for three years to demonstrate their proficiency, knowledge and compliance.
