We’ve all seen the marketing, SCUBA diving is a sport best enjoyed in warm water, somewhere exotic like this…

Just because it looks warm and inviting, doesn’t mean that the only place to dive is the warmer, sunnier climes - there’s a hugely active and growing contingent of UK or “cold- water” divers.
There are some noticeable differences between warm and cold water diving…
Everyone has their preference, but for a binder of reasons - cold water diving is increasingly popular.
So, with sun, sea and sand - why learn in the UK?
- We tend to train better divers
Diving in the UK is more challenging than the warm waters of the Carribean so we HAVE to train to a higher standard, we have to contend with cooler water, silty bottoms and cloudy or limited visibility during our teaching and our students are well equipped to dive in adverse conditions.
- It’s far easier learning here and going abroad than vice versa
Learning in less than ideal settings makes you a good diver who can then enjoy paradise diving, learning in paradise gives you an uphill learning journey if you're going to bring your hobby home with you!
- Who wants to waste their holiday?!
The big one - we don't get enough time on holiday! Why would you want to spend some of it in a pool or a shallow bay going through the skills!
We don't know anyone that's regretted learning before they go, we have a rising number of people who wish they had though!
If the thought of cold water really puts you off (and it shouldn’t!) then we can’t recommend enough a referral, allowing you to do the bulk of your learning with us and your graduation dives in the sun!
